What are your names? Chris Callaghan, Chris Hull, Joe Kitchen
How old are you?We are all 22
What instrument do you play? I play Bass guitar. Chris Callaghan plays guitar and does the vocals and Chris Hull plays drums.
How and why did you get together? We were all members of a (terrible) metal band and decided we would have some better luck playing what we play best: in a 3-piece. Callaghan had already written some songs so we started rehearsing and have kept going ever since.
When did you get together? 2004
Why did you decide to become a member of the band? Callaghan and myself had some successful jam sessions and we wanted to create our own blues/rock band rather than stay in the metal band. We told Chris Hull and he thought it was a good idea so ahead we went!
What are your ambitions? 50 venue stadium tour round the world!
Where do you get your gear from? Most of my gear (effects, leads etc) is from Millers/Ken Stevens in Cambridge, my bass I bought down the road from there from (the now closed) Marks Music and my amp came from Denmark St. in London.
How much do you earn and how much does it cost to set up the band? Not enough and too much!
What are your musical influences? We all listen to a lot of classic rock. Led Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix, Sabbath are some of many, but we also listen to bands like Muse and Foo Fighters.
What is it you like about music and why do you choose to play the type of music you do? Not sure what I like about music, I just love to play it and rise to the challenge of being accurate in my playing but as creative as possible. That`s the best thing about playing blues (and rock by extension).. you get given a chord pattern which you have to follow (12 bar blues for example) but how you go about playing the pattern is entirely up to you. The freedom of improvisation is great fun.
Where do you get the ideas from for your own lyrics? You would have to ask Chris Callaghan as I have very little to do with the lyric writing!
What’s it like being on stage and do you get stage fright? I used to be in a lot of amateur musical performances as well as doing pantomimes and other plays in my village`s Dramatic Society so that added with gigging with the band over the last 4 and a bit years means I don`t get stage fright thankfully. Being on stage depends on how well the gig is going, if the crowd is behind you and you are all playing well it is fantastic!
Where do you go, what do you check out in order to promote yourselves and how do you publicise yourselves? We haven`t had many regular gigs due to Uni disrupting a lot of our progress. That said we have played at Southampton Uni and done a few gigs in places like Stratford-Upon-Avon and Leicester Square in London. We`ve never really done any promotion, it`s just a case of chasing up any opportunities we hear about!
Where do you rehearse? Any Village/School halls that will allow us to deafen nearby residents!
Do you enjoy the media attention? We don`t get a great deal so I guess you could say we do now, not sure if we would enjoy being hounded constantly like some bands have to put up with.
How do you record demos or music to put on Myspace? Callaghan has loads of recording equipment so we just mic everything up and do a load of live takes until we`re happy. Vocals and lead guitar will get put on later if they need patching up.
Do you have a manager? - Do you get on with him/her? Sadly we don`t have one. Otherwise we would probably do a lot more gigging!
Do you get on with each other or have arguments? I don`t think we`ve ever had an argument. A couple of minor disagreements maybe but if anything trivial comes up we just forget about it and discuss/play something else.
