Music - the HEAT is ON!!!
The first heat of the Haverhill Rock competition took place on Saturday 7th February at the Haverhill Arts Centre..
The
Bands Info Project, running from the Arts Centre's Media Hub room, has
been following the progress of the bands taking part. Check below to
find out how the first heat went. Were the bands hot or not? Take a
look through the photo highlights and get essential details on the
bands...
This goes out to all the people doing the MACARENA throughout the whole thing - YOU ROCK!!!
------------------------------------------------
Four
bands signed up for the heats - and only three bands turned up. No
matter though - the Rock Comp Heat 1 still RULED!!! Here's the line-up:
> CHAOS DYNASTY
> EMMA B-M
> SCREAM IN UNISON
> SELECTIVE WALK
Up
first were Chaos Dynasty. A generally good band, but not really
everyone's cup of tea I don't think. They had a very unusual singing
style - I will say that Alfie Wyatt's throat must've been hurting after
the strange grunting-screamo kind of sound that was coming out of it.
They got 23 votes, which was a split audience vote with Selective Walk.
Chaos Dynasty
As
for Emma B-M... well... I would be able to report on them IF they had
turned up! But unfortunately, we recieved an email halfway through the
heats saying that there was a problem and they wouldn't make it. Too
bad! Strangely, though, there were three "devoted" people who actually
voted for the no-show band. Each to their own, I guess...
Now
Scream In Unison were absolutely fantastic. The female lead vocals were
amazing, and the songs were very catchy. The musicians were very
talented, although the drums were sort of average for the most part,
with really cool bits here and there. The band got through as the judges voted them the best, and the feeling was the same for a lot of the audience!
Scream In Unison
Selective
Walk - WOO YOU GO GUYS! These were my personal favourite, and the
majority of the crowd was there for them, so the audience response was
immense! Awesome guitarists, awesome singing and awesome drums makes
for an awesome band. 23 votes, the same as Chaos Dynasty, and they were
voted runners-up by the judges.
Selective Walk
GOOD LUCK IN THE FINALS EVERYONE!!
